In Episode 56 of the Mr.Wine Guy Podcast I had the privilege of sitting down with Patrick Durbin, Vintner and Winemaker for Seabird Wines out of Napa Valley, CA.
Flowering in the Vineyards
After a cool winter and moderate spring, sunny skies and warmer temperatures have staked claim across the Valley. This summery foundation has moved vines into the bloom phase. Unlike many flowering plants, which rely on outside sources, like insects, for pollination, grapevines are hermaphroditic and self-pollinating. The calyptra, a protective cap, sits atop the flowers. When ready, the calyptra is shed, exposing the pistols to pollen so fertilization can occur.

Sound the Trumpets! It’s our 2019 Vineyard Guide. New Sites and New Varietals
It's Bud break! We celebrate the annual ritual of vines waking from their winter slumber with the release of our 2019 Vineyard Guide. Your Wine Brand Could Be Lost in One Single Trademark Infringement
As a brand owner, you don’t want to infringe another producer’s intellectual property, especially in connection with the launch of a new brand. “I’ve seen entire businesses fold within months of a product launch, after they spent a ton of money on marketing, but not enough on vetting and securing their own branding,” notes Dawson. “All it took was one trademark infringement lawsuit, and they lost their entire business.”
