This session, features Dr.Jan Krupp, the visionary who founded Stagecoach Vineyard. Stagecoach, a property most viticulturalists considered unplantable, literally grew from Jan’s belief in the property’s potential and his perseverance in cultivating the inhospitable terrain. Jan turned steep, rocky, and barren hills into one of the most highly revered and sought-after vineyards in the new world. As described by The Wine Foundry’s General Manager, Steve Ryan, “The elevation, climate and sun exposure make Stagecoach the most ideal location to produce Bordeaux varietals in all of California.” We will explore the decisions Jan made over the years in cultivating the largest contiguous vineyard in the Napa Valley.
