It’s Bud break! We celebrate the annual ritual of vines waking from their winter slumber with the release of our 2019 Vineyard Guide. A friend recently asked why we drop off the radar every year between February and April. While quiet at a traditional winery, it’s anything but at The Wine Foundry. It begins with hours of tasting through the previous vintage to assess the fruit profiles and structure of each site. Then it’s muddied treks to each vineyard throughout California. The conversations, stories and tastings with the growers lay the foundation for the latest iteration of the guide.

While paging through old favorites, take note of the new properties added to the lineup. In addition to three new Cabernet Sauvignon sites across Napa and Sonoma, we became Rhônephoric in 2018 with not one, but two, gorgeous Grenache properties to go along with the Syrah and Mourvedre we crafted.

For the next hour, step away from distraction by opening a favorite bottle and putting down the remote. It’s wine time.

New Cabernet Sauvignon Vineyards Atwood Ranch, Dillinger’s Peak and Galloway

Cabernet Sauvignon – Atwood Ranch page 8
We’re committed to delivering world-class bottlings. With the price of top notch Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon continuing to climb, we’ve been seeking worthy interpretations of the grape at a manageable price. We found an answer with Atwood Ranch perched among the bench lands of Sonoma’s ‘Valley of the Moon’.

Cabernet Sauvignon – Dillinger’s Peak page 10
Lore and legacy. Fans of dense fruit backed by muscular tannins rejoice! Dillinger’s Peak is a beast, delivering the thunder and lightning associated with mountain sites like customer favorites at Greeg Mountain Ranch and Stagecoach. This five generation family farm was originally developed in the 1880s when Grover Cleveland was in his first term and Dirk Nowitski was playing his rookie season for the Dallas Mavericks.

Cabernet Sauvignon – Galloway Ranch page 12
Michael Galloway has built something special in Oak Knoll. Bordered by the famed Bettinelli Sleeping Lady Vineyard, 100% of fruit from this site is exclusively made for Michael Galloway’s private collection and we pick up the rest. A treasure in Oak Knoll that makes elegant, lasting and feminine interpretation of classic old world Cabernet. Expressing firm and fine grained tannins notably found at the base of the Mayacamas.
