Florentine Raises a Glass to Season-Ending ‘Elixir’

When William Florescu, general director of Milwaukee’s Florentine Opera, raises a glass on the opening night of Gaetano Donizetti’s "The Elixir of Love," he’ll toast the opera with the Florentine’s own wine. The Florentine Reserve, produced by The Wine Foundry in Napa, California, is a classic Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petite Verdot, says marketing and communications director Richard Clark.

As part of our Business Development Internship, Claire and I will be making a barrel of wine. As you would expect, the first step is to decide which wine to use. We began by taking barrel samples from 2013 adoption barrels. We were able to narrow our choices down to a single vineyard and varietal, Cabernet Sauvignon from Rutherford Bench Vineyard, which offered 4 barrels to choose from. Believe it or not, the difference from one barrel to the next is uncanny.

The Wine Foundry today announced the launch of the Foundry Wine Club, (http://www.FoundryWineClub.com) a new wine club that connects consumers with boutique, ultra premium California wines that are unavailable in stores. The new wine club will feature three offerings: 90+ Club, Napa Cab Club and Wines to Watch.

What does our new sign have to do with your wine? Both improve with age! Another milestone has been met at The Wine Foundry with the addition of our new sign. This is not just the usual insert-company-logo-here display. We wanted a sign as unique and personable as our mission. Handcrafted at Barber Sign Company, a family outfit in operation for over 50 years, each letter was forged of galvanized sheet metal and epoxy with the intention to evolve and change throughout the years to come.
